Chapman & Company was founded by Silas Chapman in 1872 and for over 135 years has been providing a full range of insurance services to businesses and residents of
central Connecticut.

Silas Chapman
& Company had its office in Hartford, CT for all of
the first century including offices on Asylum Street, Pearl Street,
and Pratt Street.
In 1971 when the agency was purchased by Tom Cornelius it was
located at 54 Pratt Street in downtown Hartford. Tom acquired
several other agencies during his term of ownership including The
Barhydt Agency, The Pivko Agency, The Brown Agency and the
personal lines business of Johnson & Higgins of Connecticut. In
1981, having outgrown its offices at 54 Pratt Street Tom
Cornelius moved the agency to 38 Woodland Street in Hartford.
The agency moved again in 1991 to its office at 637 Park Road in
West Hartford, CT.
Effective January 1st, 2005, after running the agency for 34
years, Tom sold the agency to his son Craig R. Cornelius. In December of 2005
the agency moved to its current location at 559 New Park Avenue
in West Hartford.
In June of 2006 Silas Chapman & Company purchased "The
Everett N. Ciccone Agencies" of West Hartford from the estate of
its founder and has merged its operation into the New Park
Avenue office.
Effective January 1st, 2008 Silas Chapman & Company acquired
The Silverstein Insurance Agency from Steve Silverstein and has
merged its operation into the New Park Avenue office.
